The Safety First Compliance Program is a first for Australia...

So how does it benefit real estate agents?
The Safety First Compliance Program is particularly beneficial to real estate agents because it enables large property portfolios to be routinely tested, repaired and recorded for safety compliance in a no-fuss manner by licensed technicians to curtail fire, injury or even death.

By implementing such a program, real estate agents are able to show duty of care if liability or insurance claims arise in the future.

The statistics speak for themselves… 
Over 60 percent of leased properties in Victoria do not comply with current Australian wiring rules, according to the REIV. Energy Safe Victoria reported around 400 people in the year 2014-2015 suffered non-serious and also serious injuries (admitted to hospital) due to electricity fault or misuse.

The REIV states that inspections of electrical, plumbing, gas fixtures and fittings, smoke alarms and even swimming safety barriers should be carried out periodically by those qualified under REIV requirements. Property managers are NOT qualified to complete such regulatory inspections.

This includes determining the best manner to seek approval from your property owners i.e. we work with your established CMS or shoulder the burden of gaining approval for you so not to place further pressure on your property management workload.

All compliance checks are performed quickly, quietly and efficiently to ensure minimal disruption for your tenants. A Certificate of Adjustment is delivered at the conclusion of the inspection, incorporating:

  • Detailed summary of any current non-compliance

  • Confirmed time and date for correction

  • Contact details of the assigned service officer

  • Date for revised compliance audit

Our holistic approach means you’re not wasting time or money managing different contractors to obtain safety compliance of your rental roll, and routine maintenance can be performed at the time of the audit to save on further site calls.

Note: The Safety First Compliance Program is tax deductible. Insurers may also offer a discount on insurance premiums if presented them with a Safety First Compliance Certificate. Please check with the insurer.
